I do not recall now the date, when I decided to convert and go into Orthodoxy. I completed all the arrangements about the conversion to Orthodoxy at the Banska Administration in Sarajevo and in the Patriarchate in Belgrade through the church of St. George on \u010cukarica. When everything was ready, I was baptized in the Church of St. Djordje. I do not remember the date, and the necessary information will be given by the Administration of the Church of Sv. Djordje in Cukarica. During the baptism, as I had the previous name JOSIP = ANDERJA BRUK, the priest has left both names as it was my wish and only change was the surname of Bruk into Borani\u0107. The Godfather was Uros Nedeljkovic, a member of parliament from Krupanj.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0This change and faith and surname came out in the relevant official gazette in the year 1939.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0This conversion, I intended to do even earlier since my mother is by the birth Aryan and by faith r. All my belongings and property remained in the apartment in the village of Dragodol, Plavsici hamlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0My wife and child stayed in Valjevo for some time while I came to Belgrade immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0All my other family like: uncle, mother, brother \"sister-in-law and their child stayed in the village of Dragodol.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0On arrival in Belgrade in August, the first thing that happened was me to contact my directorship of \"Minero\" A.D. which company had already been under the commissariat, and the commissioner was Mr. Franja Ertl, and from that I was given a confirmation, with which I stayed in my duties.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Commissioner Ertl, as well as other members of the company, knew of my Jewish origin from my father, and I did not hide it from them, and in addition, the company, as such, issued me a power of attorney.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0With this power of attorney and with my other documents, I reported to the authorities in Belgrade and when the time came for the issuance of my personal IDs, I received it on the basis of those documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I did not do any forgeries, nor did I do anything to get my ID card, but only on the basis of my previous documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0As for my acquaintance and my relationship with Jelena Sardelic, I met her in October or November 1940 in Belgrade, and I fell in love with her at that time, and I thought to later divorce from my first wife and to marry her, about which I agreed with my wife.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0She even came to my place before the war and until after my departure, and I came to her to Belgrade when she arrived.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0From August, until the time I was arrested in Vrsac, I traveled all the time in Serbia as well as Banat on trading business, both company's and my own, always arranging for documents and announcements.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0From February 16, 1942, when I began to suspect my former friends that they wanted to get rid of me in some way, since I worked out their businesses, I decided to go away from Belgrade. As Jelena had previously gone to Vrsac, she had an aunt Lena Nenadovic, and as I heard from these ladies of the tragedy that befell my family in the village of Dragodol, I saw that there was no place for me in Belgrade, and I decided to go to Jela and her aunt in Vrsac. I went with a regular announcement, and I reported there to the authorities. I did not hide, but I lived freely in Vrsac until the day of the arrest. Jela's aunt, I think she knew that I was a descendant of the father of a Jew.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Jovanovic Ratko, was my clerk in Rudnik, whom I personally set up and sent to work, since he was previously by profession market.
